Career Opportunities

General Information for All Applicants

  • Hays County announces vacant positions as they become available.  
  • Applications are only accepted for positions currently posted.
  • An application is required for each position for which you are applying.  Applicants may make copies of the application and enter different position titles, but each copy must have an original signature and job posting number. 
  • Stand-alone resumes will not be considered in lieu of the completed application form; however, a resume may be attached to your application if you wish.
  • A completed County application form must be submitted on or before the posted deadline in order to be considered. 
  • Position announcements may be closed or extended at any time during the advertisement period at the discretion of Hays County.  
  • All jobs are full-time unless otherwise noted.
  • Job applications are maintained by the Human Resources Department for a period of 90 days.  
  • Submitted applications become public record and are subject to disclosure. Hays County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 

The Application Process

All Departments (except the Sheriff's Office)

  1. Download Applications , or get them from the Human Resources department at 111 E. San Antonio St. Suite 201, San Marcos TX 78666 (view map).
  2. Applications may be faxed to 512-393-2227, or attached to an e-mail and sent to hr@co.hays.tx.us, or mailed/hand delivered to the address above.
  3. Applications must be received by the Human Resources Department on or before the posted deadline date.
  4. The application will be sent to the hiring department.  The department will contact individuals they have selected for an interview.

 Sheriff's Office Applications

  1. Applicants for all jobs in the Sheriff's Office must complete their application form.
  2. Printed applications are available from the Sheriff's Office at 1307 Uhland Road in San Marcos, Texas  78666 (view map) or from the Human Resources department (see the address in the previous section). Click the following link to download the Hays County Sheriff's Office Application (this is a large file and may take a little time to open).
  3. Return the completed application directly to the Sheriff's Office.
  4. Applications must be received by the Sheriff's Office on or before the published posting deadline.
  5. The Sheriff's department will contact individuals selected for an interview.
